In Europe there is a drop in the birth rate . In Great Britain there are more older people than younger people . Demographic trends need analysing with care. In fifty years time the situation could look very different to today . As countries become richer so families are started at a later age . The correlation between global warming , religious tension ,too many cars is too over simplified in attributing them to over population . Religious tensions have always existed in history . Global warming is to do with many factors , mainly lifestyle related . Expectations rise in better off nations but it is from these countries that a reappraisal of lifestyles is emerging .

Respondents who've pointed out that absolute numbers are not the problem, density is, are exactly correct. Britain has a comparatively high population density but it's nothing compared to countries such as Bangladesh, which is horrendously overpopulated. The Ganges basin in India / Bangladesh and the Yangtze and Yellow River basins in China are the world's highest density zones by far - Northwestern Europe and the Boston-Washington conurbation are also up there.
Population growth is actually slowing in much of the world, and has already stopped in developed countries. Medium UN estimates have the world population stabilising around 9 billion by about 2050, and even high-end predictions stabilise at about 11 billion in around 2150.

Actually, we haven't even come close to overpopulating the planet to the point where we can't support ourselves with the resources we have...
The problem is the *distribution* of the population. Too many are in regions of the world where the land can't support the population, leading to famine, fights (wars) over resources, indiscriminate use of polluting fuels to sustain that population, etc.
We're getting closer to that non-sustainable overall number, though. The world is currently at about 6 billion humans, and many estimates put an upper limit of what the planet can support at about 10 billion. After we have that many, things are really going to get ugly unless we can control population growth...:(

Not sure if you are volunteering to leave but there is still enough room for more people if we can learn to live together. The problem is not too many people but too much intolerance
In China there is the one child policy and although this sounds good but there are many problems with it including gender selective abortions to get a son, excessive pressure to succeed and supporting your two parents and your partner's two parents and their parents on just one or two salaries (called the two, four, eight problem) Japan on the other hand wants its people to have more children as the population is falling and there is not enough workers

There's plenty of room here. People need to spread out instead of them all living right on top of each other. If we consumed 20% less beef, you could grow enough produce to feed all the hungry people in the world. This too many people thing is all about arrogance and greed.

I was watching some news channel and it said that the population is 300 million. I am not sure we will overpopulate though unless we have some major disaster that forces everyone into the middle of the earth

Way, way, way too many. I'm not sure this planet could adequately support over a billion people, and then only if everyone was living in harmony with nature.

The planet will never be over populated because one way or another it will always self regulate itself through, warring nations, widespread sickness, natural disasters etc.

No, there is more than enough food, water, air, and land to go around for everyone. The problem is different groups of people always seem to love killing each other for no reason, I don't know why.
