If you get married abroad do you have to change your passport before you come back to your married name?

immigration is not going to ask you if you are married while you were in Mexico
once you get home you need to take your marriage certificate to the DMV and have your name change (if you want to do that)
and also apply for new Passport

I got married in Mexico, I live in the US. They let me back in.
