you must divide the total number (63) by 7 (because if 3 parts are yellow and 4 parts are white that makes 7 parts.) lets do the math 63 divided by 7=9 now multiply the 9 by the 3=27 (yellow) now multiply the 9 by 4=36 (white) . So 27 are yellow and 36 are white. self Check 36+27=63

3x = yellow balls
4x = white balls

3x + 4x = 63
7x = 63
x = 9

... So 3x = 27 yellow balls and 4x = 36 white balls

let x be yellow balls and y be white balls

x+y=63

x/3=Y/4 then 4x=3y

then solve for x
x=63-y
4(63-y)=3y
252-4y=3y
7y=252
y=36
then x=27
