If I transfer an image from a web site to the flash drive by clicking, "save as" and then go to drive E, will the image inadvertantly be stored on the hard drive?

It depends, I guess. If you're using FireFox or SeaMonkey they won't cache files saved via the right-click menu's "Save Link Target As..." command, after you right-click on a link to the image. IE might work the same way.

If it's an image you've already looked at in the browser it will be in the cache on the hard drive already. (Unless the image is served through an encrypted connection - https://...) It will eventually go away on its own as you browse elsewhere, or when you empty the cache.

@The Answer: I believe the E: drive in this case refers to her flash drive, not her hard drive.

Not directly, but the web site will still be stored in the temp internet file.

I don't know what the otherguy was thinking but the answer is yes. If you save something to the E: drive it will obviously be there when you open the E drive
