1. Since the Muslims took over mainly Orthodox Christian Temples, they adopted many issues. For example: the Universe expressed by the dome, of Hagia Sophia and many others.

JC, hi i'am panda and i would like to answer u ,JC i don't have an academic answer for your assigment however i will reply from the insperation of my home culture , actually islamic art faced agreat challenge that if u get u would understand the essence of our culture, art is a reflection of life a real one,so moslem artist had to know that what was prohibbted to all moslems will be accordingly banned for him, so if islamic teaching banned moslems from using women(for example) as sexual material instrument for their work (like making nude statutes as greek) add to this that it was hated(not banned) to make statues espically in designing mosques(because ancient arabs used to worship them)they had to use a totally different prospective &abandon many of the materials they used to ,for example they innovate a brand new methods in drawing using new material of plants &animals they mixed it (these drawings)with handwritting to establish anew art that was very flourished in islamic civilization ,this was reflected in the most beloved arabian art of poetry that they invent the suffi sonnets or (toashih) in which theyexpress their love &subordination to Allah ,the main dilamma for a moslem artist was to made his work fine in eyes of Allah through avoiding what Allah hate ,this art was flourished in moslem world in a sense that keep the flavour of every islamic state along with preserving the significant guideline that destinguish islamic art this was greatly expressed most in the feild of archticture especially in designing of mosques that u find the arabian style differ from the indian &andolesian however theyall share the same basices which proves that islam doesn't prohibet creation &innovation as long as it does not involve what is haram(forbidden in arabic) .moslem artist used his mentality to approash Allah with his talent this was reflected in poetry , singing(note that the famouse arabian Ahhaa in singing is naturally driven from the rythem of islamic azan(athan))
