this has occured 3times so far. I did report to the office, but since ihave no proof there is not very much that they can do

If the management won't help, and you know who did it, even if you do not have "proof," call the police or sheriff's department and tell them the situation, including that the manager refused to do anything about it.

You did the correct thing. Report that your patio is being used as someones dump site. I would suggest hold onto the trash for the groundskeeper, or whomever runs the apartments.
Also what you might want to do, is start keeping an eye on everybody around you. Someone who lives down the block may be doing it just to annoy you. Screw those guys. Better off having a camera ready to catch them in the act, then time to go to the cops! And throw it in their face! You could even get money from whomever is doing this to you if you bring them to court saying that the trash ended up ruining your patio(furniture or deck) and it costed you x amount of money to fix it. Dont let some kids or irresponsible adult get away with it.

They probably do this extremely rude thing during the hours you are not at home so figure out what days of the week they do this then have a friend stay over at your apartment while you are away or just take the day off from work and have them listen for the evil neighbor to dump the trash on your patio and have them catch them in the act and watch for what apartment they go into and report them to the office.

Set up a video camera by the door?
Is it garbage bags you could go through and find
mail with their name on or something?
If you know when they do it-- sit in the dark and wait and catch them...
Otherwise probably the easiest idea-- go to a store and buy those "fake" video cameras.. they use a battery to have a recorded light on all the time and mount it to the wall outside where they do it.. otherwise a less inexpensive way and is to put up signs all in the back that say, "Smile you are now on camera.." or "garbage dumpers will be shot"... If you have lights outback- keep them on during the night.. etc etc...
Google some good "boobie trap" ideas...
Mase them when they throw the garbage and you catch them...
Spray them with spray paint?

You hook up a webcam to your computer, put it in the window, use webcam security software and mask out just your patio and use motion detection, then when it happens, it takes a picture or takes a little video of who did it.

Also you might want to get a webcam with nightvison incase they are doing it at night. You can get them cheap for about $15 try ebay.

put up a servaillence camera if u have the bucks. if u don't, then u will have to sit up all night and catch them with either a still camera or a video camera. u have to have the proof inorder for anyone to do anything. good luck. can u think of anyone who has a hate on for u.

You need to find a paper that has their name and address on it in the pile. Take a picture of it sitting on your patio and then there is your proof.

Try and catch whoever is doing it.
Get a screen put on your patio.
Put a sign up.
Camera.
Add a trash can to your patio.

well i had a similar problem,we have a security guard . i asked him to watch my apartment during the night and day while i worked and i would wath it during the after noon,but if you dont have a security guard ask someone that you trust thayt lives around you to watch your apartment while you are out that way if this person sees something he can call the office or take a picture

The next time it happens, call them up and make them come over immediately. Tell them it's an emergency situation. Also, try installing a video camera and perhaps you will be able to catch the idiots who are doing this to you. I know that I would be pissed !
