I replaced the motor on a mercedes 190e and i wired everything great. and i checked it like three times. I also replaced the starter with a new one and it wont start. You can hear the starter jump as if it was trying to turn the motor but the motor won't turn. what can be the problem. all the lights and everything work on it.

The first thing to do is to verify the engine is not in a "locked"condition. When mating trans to engine,if torque converter was not installed correctly,it would "bind "conv. to engine flywheel. 1&1/16" socket ,with large 1/2 "rachet will allow you to turn crankshaft @ front pulley.Good luck!

Take the starter out and reinstall and make sure the gear meshes with the flywheel gear . You might want to test the starter with a set of jumper cables while it is out. This is a common problem, not meshing gears properly.

Can you turn the engine over by hand? Have you made sure that the trans is bolted up correctly?

is the battery new? if it is i would put the old starter back in and try it. if the batt is old i would try to jump the car with a running car
