it is not fully understood why women tend to live longer than men in general.

one main theory is that women tend to be more in touch with their emotions, so they don't build up as much frustration as men.

it has been shown that anger and other negative feelings cause your body to actually produce harmful and sometimes even poisonous chemicals. in other words, when you are angry and mad, you are slowly poisoning yourself.

women tend to cry more often and not hold back as much, which is a good release for the body and it is healthy. they flush out their system that way.

men are more stubborn and they are often set in their ways all the way until they die, even if they learn that their ways were wrong, they hardly change and get more angry and seldomly cry.

That is a perfect example why you should never entirely trust what statistical numbers tell you. More men die young in accidents involving speeding/drinking or dare-devilish activities than do women and as such, when you average the age of death in men out and compare the same average for women, it makes women seem like they live longer. Perhaps they do but the real truth is, they just live safer and more frequently die of natural causes than men do.

i think it is the survival instinct which kind of goes along with what they others have answered regarding men behaving in a riskier manner. women have a strong survival mode, mother instincts, therefore, we know our limits, as well as test them. we have to be stronger to nurture, protect and teach our children, and our men.
