You may find it hilarious, but put yourself in the helpless bug's position. How would YOU like to be smashed to yellow juice by a charging windshield, dying with an awfully unimportant sounding 'pop'?
I think people like yourself should reconsider your position in the Universe. Just like PETA has done in recent years. Apparently they -along with all weak and all strictly unnecessary life- are, in their book, the center of the Universe.

Heavens to Peta! I heard that in one so-called "life saving" injection on a child with a staph infection, millions and millions of defenseless bacteria interested only in peacefully eating their dinner were brutally and savagely MURDERED by a horrible physician.

I've killed about 20 zillion lovebugs in my lifetime. I hate cleaning the little jokers off my windshield. I've found that the sound of bugs being zapped to death is very soothing before bed. My husband bought a bug zapper and he sits in the yard at night drinking cold beer and watching them spin out in a cloud of smoke.
