Hammie stores the grain in his cheeks ,then transports it to a secret site to store it for later consumption.
Could it be your Hammie hasn't decided where to put it yet?
Or is he waiting for you to look away ,so that he can stash it in secret?
(You have a para. hamster)
Sure this is normal for them, our school hamster did this all the time ,he'd usually hide it in his nest/sleeping area.
(Only please don't put yours down the slide, like the boys at school did to ours)
Have fun, and stop staring at him

RE:
Hamster Cheeks Full?

Hamsters like to pack their cheeks full of food and store it where they sleep usually, because they will wake during the daytime, and since they are nocturnal the light hurts their eyes so if it is next to them then they wont have to move from their sleeping area. Syrian / Teddy bear hamsters are more likely to do this than other hamsters.

I'm no scientist but I believe the reason why he still has his cheeks full may be because he doesn't know where to put the food or maybe he just doesn't have a secure place to put it yet.....He could just be saving it for later.....But he should be OK, I had a hamster about 5yrs ago....his cheeks were full for 3hours one time, he was fine......He was just looking for a place to hide it for a midnight snack. LOL.

hey don't worry hamsters put food in their cheeks. they empty it out almost right before they go to sleep so they can have a late night snack.

He put food in there as storage. Its like a kangaroo pouch. He will eventually take it out, don't worry. Hamsters put a lot more stuff in there like bedding and stuff too.

hamsters usually do this it is probably not ready to eat yet or it might think you are going to take it away because you are probably sitting there so it is hiding some for later. if you will go away from it it might let the food out of its mouth.
