25 - 3(3 1/2) - 5(1 1/4)
First, rewrite the fractions like this:
25 - 3(7/2)-5(5/4)
Now multiply
25 - 21/2 - 25/4
Now get like denominators
100/4 - 42/4 - 25/4
So this would be (100 - 42 - 25)/4
Which is 33/4
Simplify to 8 1/4

Try it Like this:

Turn the Mixed Numbers into Fractions:

25 - 3(7/2) -5(5/4)

Multiply out

25-(21/2) - (25/4)

Make all of the denomators equal
25(4/4) - (21/2)(2/2) - 25/4

100/4 - 42/4 - 25/4

Now just subtract

33/4 is your answer or as a Mixed Number 8 1/4
