I have always loved the name River. I've never thought of Forest for a girl but I love it. I think unique names are the way to go. Yes I definatly think these names are great.

I've heard of Rivers and Forest as boys names, but not a girl.

Forest has always been a mans name, so has River, for that matter. If you are someone who likes girls having boys names, then it should be fine for you. Theres enough stress in life without people getting confused by your names. I know since my name is mispronounced all the time and I wish it had been simpler.

I think River is pretty, but it sort of reminds me of River Phoenix. Also, Forest is nice, but then I think of Forrest Gump, so I don't know if that would be such a good name for a girl. Maybe you can let those be their middle names! It's a lot of fun to have an unusual middle name.

Those are both beautiful names. My usual rule into giving a name to an offspring would be that if you can't make more than 3 ways to make fun of it then you have a good name. Any name that has more than that, you are just asking for trouble. Remember these kids have to grow up with that name and kids can be cruel. For example, in Spanish Olga is a nice name. But here its too easy to make fun of. Like Ugly Olga, Olga the Ogre... I hope you catch my drift. I don't mean to sound weird its just like I've lived through a life a being made fun of, I won't let that happen to mine. Just FYI but personally I like them.

I've known several Rivers and a couple Forests but they have always been male.....not sure how well it goes with females.

Like River Phoenix and Forrest Gump? Please forget the "oh I'm so clever and unique" names-- your kids will thank you for it later. Look at all the Camerons and Ryders and Coltons out there.
Choose a meaningful name that has a history to it. Look in your own family's history. I hate "flavor of the month" names. Good luck to you and your children.

They're both pretty neat, River is more conventional than Forest. Just don't use both.
