I just bought a shawl for belly dancing; the sort with lots of coins hanging. But I am having second thoughts about the colour combo. What I have now is a purple sash with silver coins. Would gold coins be better? My housemate chose it for me cos she said that silver goes better with purple. But I think gold stands out more. What do you think?

It depends on your skin tones. If you're a "cool" then the silver would work better. But if you're a "warm" then the gold would look better.

You probably won't go through enough answers to get to mine, but I could use the points. Anyway, historically speaking, purple and gold have been used as the colors for royalty--it's traditional. Personally, I prefer silver, but I like silver better to begin with. Go with what you like and what looks better on you.

Stick with what you have already - silver and purple are really nice - especially for belly dancing. To me gold would look 'cheaper' and silver more appropriate.

I like silver over gold, but you see gold more with purple. Purple and silver looks elegant where purple and gold is "looking for attention".

Personally I think purple and gold go together better.If you do decide to change it to gold then be sure to tell the friend that got it for you that you appreciate it and like it but you feel like you'd rather have gold.Be gentle about it.

Purple is a "cool" color...as well as silver - so they match very well. (my fav) Yet, Gold is warm so contrasts with purple creating a dramatic way.
It comes down to your personal preference.
Either way....belly dancing....very cool. Good for you!!!!

I think silver is more subtle anf 'cool" looking. personally i love purple with gold. it stand out betterand go beatiful with my asian skin tone. I guess it's personal choice and occasion like show vs everyday practice at studio.
