Science Fiction when written well. I'm partial to the works of Issac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlien, Ben Bova, Frank Hebert, Andre Norton , Arthur C. Clark.
Anne Mccaffrey ,Piers Anthony ,Marion Zimmer Bradley
I also enjoy Westerns written by Louise L'amor. The descriptions are accurate and the characters have integrity.

The Hobit & Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

THese all have elements of truth and fact worked into the fiction.

The Agatha Christie mysteries are good. All of them from her short stories to long ones. The Series of Unfortunate Events are good and funny. If you like an author look them up and if they have any books that you have not read yet read those. Usually I always like everything one of my favorite authors writes.

If I HAD to read a book, it would be whatever the person who told me I had to read... I say you have to read.
Map Of Bones, by James Rollins.
The Crytponomicron, by Neal Stephenson.
Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman.
Mind Hacks, by Tom Stafford and Matt Webb.
Thief Of Time, by Terry Pratchett.
The Ingenuity Gap, by Thomas Homer Dixon.
L.O.T.R., by Tolkien.
The Harry Potter series, by Rowlings.
The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, by Adams.
Choose any one of them or all of them. They are all great books.

I don't understand. Why would you have to read a book, unless it's an assignment? I that case, you wouldn't be able to choose, would you?

the Bible... it's like a manual. i've already read it once, it's pretty interesting, there are alot of neat stories in there... you've got people taking other people's lives, greed, theft, people sleeping around, all kinds of stuff.
