the formulas are Farenhight=9/5c ( nine fifths celcius) + 32

And the questions are:

1. what is the temperature in degrees farenheit when it is 0c

2. What is the temperature in degrees farenheight when it is 100c

3. What is the temperature in degrees celcius when it is -4F

4. What is the temp. in degrees celcius when it is 77F

You can answer these all with the formula for converting F to C and vice versa:

C = (5/9)*(F-32)

F = ((9/5)*C) + 32

So, for #1 you know C and you want F, so use the formula for solving for F:

F = ((9/5)*0) + 32 = 0+32 = 32

Therefore 0C = 32F

Now, I'm sure you can do 3-4 on your own!

Not sure what the problem is, just plug in for either F or C, depending on what you're given, and solve for the other.

1. F = 9/5 (0) + 32
F = 0 + 32
F = 32

2. F = 9/5 (100) + 32
F = 900/5 + 32 (multiply numerator times the whole #)
F = 180 + 32 (divde 900 by 5)
F = 212

3. -4 = 9/5C + 32
-32 - 32 (subtract 32 from both sides)
-36 = 9/5C
(5/9)(-36) = 9/5C (5/9) (Multiply both sides by 5/9 to get C
(-180/9) = C by itself)
-20 = C (divide -180 by 9)

4. 77 = 9/5C + 32
-32 - 32
45 = 9/5C
(5/9)(45) = 9/5C(5/9)
225/9 = C
25 = C

Don't be afraid of fractions, they're not that hard to work with!

0c = 32 F
100 c = 212 F
- 4 F = -20 c
77 F = 25 c
