Bill Wambsganss, a 2nd baseman for the Cleveland Indians, is who you're thinking of.

To correct your question: he's the only player to ever have an unassisted triple play (that is, getting 3 people out single-handedly) in the World Series - 1920, against Brooklyn. 11 other players (see the link below) have done it during the regular season.

Bill Wambsganss, man. He played in the late 1910's, early 20's, mainly for the Indians. It was in the 1920 World Series against the Brooklyn Robins (whoever they are!) That was a great year - they had guys like Tris Speaker, Jim Bagby, Stan Covaleski, George Uhle, Ray Chapman (the guy that got hit in the head and killed by a pitch) - a really good team.

Funny name, great player!

Bill Wambsganss. He did it in the 1920 World Series playing for the Cleveland Indians. It's still the only unassisted triple play in Series history.
