Is it true that holding baby sideways(on hip) can harm the baby.?

Also cn u recommend a not-so-expensive big soze diaper backpack for travelling purpose.

Actually i have to take a long transatlantic flight and i like to carry my boppy pillow 'cause i feed the baby in flight. so i am looking for some adviceon baby gears.
thanks and i wud appreciate if nobody passes rude or sarcastic comments.

By the way my baby is 8 months and weighs 15lbs.

I would recomend a pouch sling for hip carries, such as a hotsling, or an Ergo for front and back carries
