* eat several small meals a day to minimize blood sugar fluctuations.
* limit intake of sweets, salt, alcohol, caffeine, red meats, and other fatty foods.
* exercise to reduce stress and tension
* ask for understanding and help with tasks in advance to reduce stress and pressure
* increase time for activities that bring enjoyment

Dietary supplements may also help.
Obtaining the recommended amounts of calcium (about 1200 mg per day) has been shown reduce symptoms of PMS. Additional magnesium, vitamins E and B6, and carbohydrate supplements might also be helpful.

Actually - your body knows best. Just listen to your appetite. Some foods will attract you and others you will reject. There may be a day where you do not want to eat anything, maybe only a banana.
Every body is different so you should not really listen to generalized advice. Only your own body knows what's good for you.
And...you may not have an appetite for salty things during your period...but if you do then it is not wrong to eat them.
My appetite is usually very low at that time and mostly for pancakes with fruit and things like that.

No set rules on this subject. I always had an upset stomach during my period so I ate hard crusty italian bread baked by a neighbor with butter. Just eat what you normally eat or what makes you feel good. Healthy foods are best any day...

nothing to avoid at all. I dont care what people say. chocolate does not give you pimples, soda does not give you cramps, etc. Just try to eat healthy but not just during this time of the month, but all the time.

I like eating lots of chile...and lots of spicy food....but for some people it makes them feel worse.

Sometimes, like pregnant woman, I feel good eating ice, ice cream or just cold beverages.
