I don't make fun of peoples race I don;t steroetype peoples race. Why do they steroetype mine. Also, most of the " Mexicans " are actully not not Mexicans. Some are from other latin American countries. Why do people consider all sapnish people Mexican and why do people all asian people chinese? Why is it when I tell people that i am half Mexican. They all of a sudden get a superiority complex. They feel better then me. They put me down most of the time. They seriously do and I am sick of it

Also , I agree that it is wrong that Mexicans come into the country illegally, but I am not them. Also, in Riverdale , NY . There are a lot of illigal Irish immigrants, no one says anything about them that is because they are light-skinned. People don't like dark-skinned people

People are different, live with it. There are plenty of Mexicans that are as racist as the most racist white person. Humanity is naturally racist but most people suppress it in normal social settings. I think that some white people may be angry with Mexicans as a whole because they are streaming into our country and destroying many of the social institutions that we cherish.

I don't really think they do, Ashley. There are always going to be some ignorant little idiots who make rotten remarks or jokes about any group of people. If its not that someone is Mexican, its that they're some other thing - overweight, short, tall, etc. Every thin person gets accused of anorexia! It isn't correct, either, that people don't have issues with illegal immigrants from Ireland or some other country. They do. They say the same thing about illegal immigrants from countries other than Mexico as they say about Mexican illegal immigrants. I think the thing is, though, that there are not Irish people coming over the southern border in the numbers that Mexican people are. I think that's why you hear more about that particular thing.

I can't imagine, though, that what you're saying about people automatically developing a "superiority complex" is probably true. I have an adopted child, and the minute people found out about that they'd see him and me differently. People, as I said before, can just be ignorant.

When it happens try not to take it personally, but at the same time politely and diplomatically find a way to let people know they've stereotyped you. For example, if it comes up that you're half Mexican and someone acts surprised, use that opportunity to say, "I've never seen it as a big deal, but recently I'm noticing a lot of people start to see me differently when they find out." That may open a conversation and give you the chance to explain to whoever it is how you want to be seen. I've never had it because of my nationality, but all my life I have trouble getting people to take me seriously because I've always looked pretty youthful. It does get tiring, and you do wish you didn't always have to be "defining yourself" in order to be treated as a respectable adult, but it can be a reality for a number of reasons; and not doing some form of "preventive defining" means you end up being treated without the right kind of respect.

Its too bad its the jerks who stand out because they really are in the minority.

A lot of people say why don't they come here legally, it's not easy if these people don't have anybody here legally that can request for that person to come here legally there's no way, it's not likely for someone to just want to come and apply for a Resident card and bingo you got it, its very difficult for someone to come the only way i have known is you need money in the bank and have your own business. I am Mexican and very lucky that may grandmother is a citizen of the United States there for my father was also a citizen and all my family, no i don't look Hispanic i have very light skin and I am very tall, I can't stand when i hear that on the radio some one talks bad about Hispanics or what is going on in PA and now that re-election is going on all the commercials, yes there is people here from other countries and nobody makes a big deal about that... this is just my opinion.

Racism againt all Latin Americans is socially allowed. People make racist comments in this yahoo! answers openly. I am shocked! They also spread lies like that Mexico shots its immigrants, a ridiculous lie that only a child could believe. Their goal is to describe Mexicans as savages. They are so ignorant, it annoys me. "Mexican" is not even a race, there are white Mexicans, nativeamerican Mexicans, mestizo Mexicans... What makes me happy is that I know that they will lose the battle. Immigration is esencial for the economy of the USA and the politicians know it. Be proud of your Latin American ascents, we are a great culture far from beeing the savages they describe. At least in our region people of different races live together in peace.

I am sorry people treat others badly - where I live alot of people in this town are also very racist againist Mexicans. When they have no right to be as they come up from Mexico in the summer and work here as the white people won't. They also help support this town. I believe it all goes in how you are brought up, you learn hatred and intolerance from people around you, I am sorry to say. I am sorry that you are put down and made to feel bad, try and look at there ignorance and know that they are no better than you.

If people are not making fun of mexicans, then they are making fun of some other ethnic group.

Hopefully someday the world will truly see that everybody is equal to each other, and that way we can all make fun of everybody instead of limiting ourselves to one or two ethnic groups at a time.

You are not required to tell people that you are mexican or italian. You could just tell people that you are american. Anyways I do get what you mean.. I'm half puerto-rican and half caucasian but alot of people just assume I'm mexican too. *shrug*

I stopped caring years ago. =)

A lot of the jobs that the hispanics are coming here to do are ones that most Americans will not do. For instance, working in poultry processing plants, also working in fields picking fruit and also working at nurserys. I mean they work very hard here for the lowest paying jobs. I don't have a problem with someone wanting to better theirselves and their families.

Too bad. Mexicans suck. They are racists, sexist, rude, intransigent and have a tremendous sense of entitlement. They have no respect for law, and I include Cong. Solomon Ortiz,(D) TX amoung the ones trying to circumvent federal law for personal gain. They cry about racism but have no problem claiming Affirmative Action preferences.
