It is legal since he is the addressee but if they were really "personal" he is acting like an idiot by doing that. That is how husbands become ex-husbands when they betray their wives' trust in them.

You sent them to him, so I would think they're his once they hit his in-box to do with what he wishes. If you're sending them to his work, then his employer can view anything, including personal e-mails, contained on any employer computer. It sounds like you need to talk to a lawyer though!

Legal? Yes. Ethical? No. I'd stop sending him e-mails if he keeps doing it and it makes you uncomfortable. Tell him it's your business, his business, and nobody else.

If they are sent from you to him, they are his property and he can show them to anyone he likes. The question should be why is he showing them if they are personal. You should probably ask him this and let him know that it bothers you.
