If you are thinking of using this to start your weedeater think about if you are successful, how will you disconnect the bit and drill? If that is what your purpose is, consider using a piece of 3/16" square stock (steel) and putting a pully roller on it and using a rope to pull start it, like an old lawn mower.

What you are looking for is called a mortise bit. It require a drill press to use. In essence what it is, is a square sleeve with a drill bit inside. As the drill bit makes the round hole, the sleeve "squares" out the hole.

Bits run about $20 to $40 each. (plus the drill press)

Check around your area, there may be a woodworkers shop around that has the stuff and do the drilling for you for a nominal fee.
