It won't even necessarily cause an erection.
Obviously, bad things might happen to you (sudden death is listed as one of the side effects), but just as obviously there are people who chow down on the stuff like candy and are just fine.
For most people it takes some kind of sexual stimulation to have an erection, even while taking Viagra. I know a fella who decided to take some on the beginning of a school day and he just felt 'tingly' all day long.
So knock yourself out if that's what floats your boat. You know the risks. Have fun with it.

Being 19 you shouldn't NEED it......unless on meds or something. I was on some meds, part of another question I just answered around an hour ago, that also led to sexual dysfunction.....I was 33 years old, and had plenty "functionality" when not on these meds. I told my doctor about this and he had 3 free viagra samples, so I thanked him, and took them home. I felt warm is all, but was married at the time, and only when I was in bed around an hour later, seeing my ex's caboose in the flesh as she watched TV on her belly (I dislike her as a person, but bow and confess she has a primo can-at least she used to), is what gave me an erection. It's for people with dysfunction, but other than that, you achieve it the same way you usually do. It works well though. But if you think giving it to someone as a joke and expecting them to get an erection over nothing, by just TAKING it, forget it. It doesn't make you horny in any way-it just allows a fuller (or normal), lasting erection where some health ailments, or other impediments, i.e. certain meds may cause there reason for you NOT to experience your normal sexual response.
Below is my answer to someone asking about erection probs due to meds he is on
Not permanent. This is due to a raise in your prolactin levels from the meds-get a blood draw so maybe you can see how high it is-it should be between 7 and 15 for a male. If higher, ask Dr. if can get generic viagra or go on Bupropion Hydrochloride (Wellbutrin), if you are not prone to seizures-less sexual side -effects....but still some. Why sporadic dosages of zoloft?

There are some serious complications linked to taking Viagra. I was going to give half a pill to my boyfriend just for fun. Then I found out that Viagra can cause permanant blindness, which turned me off to the idea. If your equipment works, I wouldn't take the risk. It would totally suck to be the guy who goes blind, just for trying it out.

First check with your Dr. Viagra can cause Blood Pressure changes, and cause your heart to race. Actually, Viagra was created as a heart medication, but side effects have created the present day use.

Your face will get warm, you will feel pressure in your face, and you might get a mild headache. If you are sexually stimulated, you will probably get an erection from hell. The erection can last up to a couple of hours, unless you ejaculate, then it will be shortened considerably. At your age you shouldn't need to take it, but I understand the curiosity. The stuff is wonderful for those of us who are a little older and stress is having a negative effect on our sex life. Just be safe!

take a half a pill - a friend of mine (25) who is healthy in the respect took a half a pill and let's just say he was at attention. His girlfriend loved it. I think a whole pill might make you explode though, so be careful. Make sure you "use it" as long as your going to take it. Good luck bro

since this is in the women's health section, i'm going to assume you are female, since you do not say otherwise.
i think it would depend on a physical exam by your doctor. there are different conditions that could contradict taking Viagra, especially heart conditions. you'd need to make sure you don't have any of these conditions first.
that being said, i'm female, and my psychiatrist asked me once if i wanted to try viagra for my sexual issues. i said no because i thought i could work on it psychologically, but i don't think he would have offered if it was not safe for healthy females.
it all depends on your health status and what your MD recommends. my shrink thought it was fine, but that doesn't mean every doctor would.

Well, you know what Viagra is supposed to do, so if you want to take it for kicks, do so when you can spend the evening at home wearing loose pyjamas.....
