I love our country and we're still great. On the fun side our music industry is envied by so many countries. We have top name dj's and we have revolutionised the club scene throughout the world. On the serious side we still have the freedom of speech as we can protest without being shot at by our own soldiers. We still have the national health system. It may be struggling but it's still ours and we all still use it. You don't ever hear of people living with broken limbs because their medical cover has not been paid. Our country still pays housing for millions who cannot work who do not wish to work. You don't see any of our people in the gutters by their own choice if they have no money. Living with their children under plastic sheeting on the city streets as they have no money. We have the welfare state and millions take advantage of it and use it every year. If you doubt what I'm saying as the millions of asylum seekers that have trekked across Europe to get to a little island where our nations greatness is envied by so many countries that they risk death to get here.
WE ARE GREAT AND BRITAIN IS STILL GREAT. YOU JUST NEED TO BELIEVE IN IT.

I was all set to say something rude until you cracked me up with the 'crap teeth' thing. Ha,ha,ha! How can I be nasty when you make me laugh?! I am American with British ancestry. But, make no mistake, I'm American first. Gee, I didn't know British people had such senses of humor. Friends of mine went there to visit kids they knew yrs. ago. They were just backpacking. They were treated pretty badly by the young 'natives'. Were told Americans were rude and had no class. Of course, those saying that were just showing their lack of class and there really are some low class people there. So, what's great about Britain? Nuttin' honey. Ha,ha! No, you guys are okay. But someone here says we copy you? Ha,ha,ha! Not on your best day Brit! You'd like to think so. I guess it's all you have to hold on to. Only in your dreams. All the smart people left G. Britain for the states many, many yrs. ago. And here we are! The self-assured, proud, swaggering Americans.

I just love the idea of living in Britain. But historically speaking, GREAT Britain is probably a reference to the large empire. It used to be a lot bigger than it is now. Us Americans started out as a British colony.

The British Isles have a rich history going back thousands of years. Unfortunately few of us in Britain really know much about our history. Retrospectively I think there must have been something radically flawed with history as it is taught in out schools as our history is fascinating.
For this history guide, we shall divide the period of British history into four main chunks, and each of these four main chunks then subdivided into bite sized chapters that try to explain the way that things happened
History is an interweaving of events and people, and its not just about kings and queens, its about ordinary people and how events influenced them, and on occasions how they influenced events.
Also one has to realise that Britain is not one nation, but a hodge podge of different peoples who tend to remain distinct in spite of a millenium or more of intermarriage. I have therefore put in separate chapters on Ireland, Scotland and Wales, each with its own history
4000 BC to 1066, the Dawn of Civilisation to the Norman Conquest 4000 to 1500 BC stone age man, the first farmers, Stonehenge
1500 BC to 43 AD the age of hill forts and the Celts
43 AD to 410 AD Roman Britain, they came, they saw, they conquered
410 to 1066 the Romans leave, the Anglo Saxons arrive, the Normans conquer
1066 to 1660, the Norman Conquest to Cromwell 1066 to 1154 the Normans consolidate their conquest
1154 to 1485 the Middle Ages, who wants to be king?
1485 to 1603 Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and the Tudors
1603 to 1660 the divine right of kings to rule, then chop off their heads
1660 to 1918, Cromwell to the end of World War I 1660 to 1715 Restoration and Revolution, the beginning of Empire
1715 to 1815 The German Georges rule Britain
1600 to 1783 Britain in North America - we would rather forget
1815 to 1914 Peace and prosperity, the growth of Empire
Britain in the 20th Century 1914 to 1918 The First World War, carnage without a cause
1918 to 1939 the after effects of World War I, the General Strike
1939 to 1945 Hitler's War
1945 to 2000 Post War Britain - loses an Empire, looks for a role
Scotland through the ages
Wales through the ages
Ireland through the ages

As for your sense of humour I would say that it is kind of dry. You do however have an ample supply of pubs. As far as your teeth go you guys should see the dentist more often. I am rather smitten by a bird by the name of Ramsey. As fasr as it (Britain) being Great I have to wonder.

Diversity, fish and chips and 'nice cold ale'. Language, literature and London, and that 'Big Ben Clock is pretty great'.
I asked this question and that is what I was told
Depsite its faults, announcing that you are British to a non-British means you are never short of conversation

our ability to be straight forward and take no crap from anyone tell it like it is our stupid willingness to bring more junk food into gb from the states even though the uk has a severe obesity problem if we had no junk food we would have a healthier style of living .

'Great' in the sense of 'large' or 'major' in contrast to Brittany, 'Lesser/Minor Britain'. The term dates from the Roman Empire.
