Press F3 on your desktop, then search for files and folders with this name: *.doc

that searchs for all word documents, dont forget to click advanced search and check search hidden files and folders

You could try doing a search for *.doc on your HDD. That will find any instance of a word document. If u have deleted them from the recycle bin u might need some undelete software to recover them.
