If a prisoner has, say, a headache, heartburn, or a terrible cold, would he be given things like aspirin, Tums, or Cold-Ease?

yes, they supply medicines, but they come around normaly once a day and make sure you swollow the pills in front of the nurse..
if you need anything more serious, like an antibiotic then you have to see the doctor on duty first.

If a prisoner has a headache, flu, or heartburn, they usually are given the generic brand of pain pills and stuff. Although the health care facilities aren't what they should be, you can receive some type of care. I speak from fifteen years of being a prisoner.

they would first have to be put on the list to go to the infirmary and when his name comes up if he is still sick they would determine if he really needs the medicine, as for a cold or headache - i doubt it - probally very rarely happens because by the time you get to the infirmary you prob dont have your headache anymore and number 2 since there is no cure for the common cold - only things to comfort you - to some its not life threatening so why treat it?

They will tell you to suck it up. Medicine is for the sick and ill. A cold is nothing. They would rather it get to the point of SARS before they give you anything. Personally, I don't want to find out.
