I think the slogan tested well with focus groups of Republican base voters. And, the Bush people know that repetition works. People will believe something if they hear it often enough.
Does it make any sense? Is it logical? No, it's counterintutive since the US was not going after the actual terrorist group which attacked it. And, if the US invaded Iraq to bring democracy there, why would it want to turn it into a battlefield for terrorists from everywhere in the middle east?

the thing is... the people that still support the war actually think that we are making a difference in the war on terror...
I personally think we need to attack terrorist at the SOURCE and none of the terrorists are BASED IN IRAQ... so all we are doing is waiting on them to attack... and they have a pretty much limitless supply of poor young teens with nothing better to do...
so it's going to last unitl we destroy the base of terror... the leadership and the networks... which we are clearly not doing in Iraq, since almost 100 percent of the terrorist activity seems to be foriegn based...
basically... we're waiting on the terrorist to attack Iraq... then we kill them when the try... but what if they decide they don't want to attack Iraq anymore and want to attack America again? well, I'm sure they wouldn't do that.. right?
then I guess we're screwed...
they don't get that the "savages" that we MOST NEED TO KILL... aren't in Iraq...

When anybody doubts the reason for a war, it's time to stop supporting it. War should only be waged as a last resort, and only when it's crystal clear in your mind it is the right thing to do.

Maybe because some of us have a hard time actually wishing true evil onto American soil. Experience teaches some - others just whine "it can't happen here".
My son has been to Iraq - he has seen what terrorists will do to women and children just to get media attention.
Personally I can't understand anyone's thinking that justifies blowing up a school or a market but then maybe that makes me "normal" .
I will believe my son and his opinion - "We don't want those savages here."

There's no way people would be so willing to back a war if it were on our own land. The only chance at getting support is to keep it out of our faces.

The two wars we had on American turf destroyed property, buildings, and actually, more innocent people died, like children and women who weren't part of the war. By having the war on foreign turf, we are less likely to have problems here.

I know that's crazy.
Most Rednecks would prefer to shoot "A"-rabs out the window from the comfort of their doublewide.
Other groups of Americana like interurban brotherhood would love the chance to break out their AK47's and hose down some Islam-O-terrorist.
A video game GTA style war would be welcome by most of the Redsters on this forum.

Everyone has a reason, it's an excuse. Let it go. People used to ask me why I volunteered to go to Nam and then go back. I told them it was great, cheap beer, loose women and you can kill people without going to jail. What is there not to like.
For some reason it is the crazy answers they believe.

That's not the reason for war, it is a result of war. If we are going to be at war with anyone, I prefer to be at war in their backyard, not ours.
