The following tests are used for diagnosis:
A fasting plasma glucose test measures your blood glucose after you have gone at least 8 hours without eating. This test is used to detect diabetes or pre-diabetes.
An oral glucose tolerance test measures your blood glucose after you have gone at least 8 hours without eating and 2 hours after you drink a glucose-containing beverage. This test can be used to diagnose diabetes or pre-diabetes.
In a random plasma glucose test, your doctor checks your blood glucose without regard to when you ate your last meal. This test, along with an assessment of symptoms, is used to diagnose diabetes but not pre-diabetes.
Positive test results should be confirmed by repeating the fasting plasma glucose test or the oral glucose tolerance test on a different day.

if you call into a Lloyds chemist they will test you for free.
All they do is prick your finger - dab a little strip onto the blood and let the little hand held computer do the rest.
In ten seconds you will know whether your blood sugar is high or low.
You would then need to have it confirmed by a doctor, who wold take a full blood test. For this they make you drink a glucose drink and measure the rate at which your body uses up the sugar.
Good Luck. x x x

Several ways: a diagnosis of diabetes is made when
1: you ever, ever have a blood sugar over 200
2: if you have 2 consecutive fasting blood sugars over 140
A fasting blood sugar between 100-120 is considered to be pre-diabetes and can be controlled with diet and exercise.
There are many testing machines out there. Buy one that you can test on your arms instead of your fingers. I use freestyle. Good luck.

If you go to most Lloyd's chemists they test you while you wait , just a very small prick on the finger you wont even feel it and they test the sugar in your blood to see if it is high or low

as above and you are always thirsty, and keep needing a we.if you go to long without eating you will start to feel ill , but not all do, If I go without food for 4-5 hours My legs go weak and shaky, I feel realy unwell, sometimes it can effect my lips. so if you go that lenght of time and feel more than just hungary or starving, go get tested.

They used to test it by tasting your urine. If it is sweet then you got it. Maybe a little extreme tho.
