The quick answer is yes. Society and the individual would be stronger without imposed dogmas, one less difference to fight over. If there is ever to be peace on earth, man alone will do it . It is irrational to wait for the sky - fairy to come down and fix things.

I wouldn't say most of the wars were religious related, they were due to different beliefs... Religion helps people in different ways... Without religion you're just limiting free speech, and without free speech, we can't truly express who we are. Yes, some of the times things would be easier without religion... But religion helps too!! A lot of people base moral issues on religion, which can help them through rough times... To allow man to think freely, he should be able to choose to think of religion, as well...

I don't think religion inhibits an individuals ability to think freely.
For alot of people religion is a way to understand the universe and the question of "why am i here?"
Religion is generally used as an excuse to start wars, people cause wars, not religion. Besides, if you eradicated religion, the masses would find some other excuse for broadcasting their prejudices. Religion makes people feel safe in their prejudices and their beliefs, its a sanctioned belief system.
Anyway, man wants chaos, in fact he's got to have it.
And what would the media do without it?

No, religions are necessarily to some people. Some people need guidance in their way through life. Yes wars have been fought in the name of religions but that does not mean that men do not think freely for themselves.

Hi
John Lennon sang about your question and he thought it would be a better place without religion.
JOHN LENNON lyrics - "Imagine"
www.OldieLyrics.com
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
When he wrote this song he was studying the Bible with the Jehovah's Wittiness

Men and mankind are the ones who have started wars, not religions. They might use religion as their guide and justification for war, but it is not religion that makes war.
If you look at what the major world religions teach, love of fellow man, forgiveness, peace, selflessness, etc. these ideals and teachings do not cause war.
Each person on this earth is able to choose for himself what path he will follow. He chooses the pull the trigger, fire the rocket, and so on. God will not stop us from making choices, and he won't stop the consequences of our choices, even it that means innocent people die and wars are waged.
To blame religion on war is an oversimplification of a very complex issue.

No ,all religious are good but man misused and or do not really understand what the religious teaches. They add in their personal thought. For example myself .Buddhist is actually the teaching of buddha. He enlighten us and teach us "Universal and human hood"
i practics "Pureland" but how many really understand the teaching and how many practics accordingly. So call Religious changes me. People around me see for themselves that i change to be a better self.i advice that we should go deep into true Religious teaching and practics accordingly.Always ask why ? Ask someone who how the true about life.

ofcourse a religion free world would cut out most reasons for wars today.
and who decides that people have to worship Gods in this modern age .
in the past with so many unanswered questions ,it made sense ,today the only reason could be for others to control us
for people to say that man and not religions start wars is rediculous because men have also invented religions
and they were invented to divide us so that we could be conquered, and thus provide the reasons for war

it quite is similar to asking could the international be a extra effective place if forex replaced into in no way invented. there is not any one ordinary answer, faith has fostered and the two hampered progression in the process the centuries. religions has been a savior of a few persons and the dying of others. faith has been used and abused. could the international be extra effective? I doubt it. it may be distinctive - confident... yet extra effective??? Nah! with or with out faith human nature is a similar - and we could have discovered yet differently to screw issues up.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! man needs somewhere to focus their attentions, and a question everybody thinks about sometime in their lives is where do we go when we die?...a question only answered through religion. another quest. we ponder about: how did we get on earth? Ans: the earth was created by God, which is why you need religion. Charles Darwin said on his deathbed (mind you, he was sane when speaking this) "i made up evolution. i am sorry. please tell everyone i created the evolutionistic theory. evolution DOES NOT exist." choose what you want to believe: a lie, or the truth. i'd choose the truth, that we do need religion.
