If you eat out, grab fast-food, coffees, drinks etc...stop. Cut it right out of your budget and eat/drink in. I find that a lot of my frivolous spending always seems to go toward food and coffee. When you calculate the average cost of a drink at Starbucks and you drink a cup a day or every other day...that's a lot of money at the end of the week! Save every last cent that you would have normally spent on food and drinks, and you'll be amazed at how much you've got sitting in the bank by xmas. HTH!

Get your mum to buy it off one of the shopping channels. Always a bit cheaper. Or find a guy and work your magic on him and you'll get a prada bag for every day of the week. Besides prada bags are for life - not just for christmas

Open a "mad money" acct at your bank. Keep it separate from the acct you pay bills from and you'll be less tempted to spend from it. It's a mental game you have to play on yourself, more than anything.

Turn off the heat/air conditioner (depending on where you live) during the day when you're more likely to be out of the house. Keep it low at night, and just use more blankets if needed. Be diligent about turning off lights and unneeded electricity. That'll keep your bill much lower!

This is what I did and it helped.

Don't spend your money, put your money into an interest account at the bank and it will soon add up. Then you will be able to afford it.
