Has has not yet seen those silly documentaries doubting that the astronauts landed on the moon and presenting us with stupid "theories" ?! Who believes the astronauts REALLY landed ont he moon and who believes it was all an hoax ? I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT THAT THE LANDINGS WERE REAL. I would be interested in all your views on this. Thanks.

Sorry about that, keith0866. It was only after I had posted the question that I found out that similar questions had already been asked including yours. Still... so-called "EXPERTS" who claim things like the lack of starts in the sky in the photos taken on the Moon know nothing about PHOTOGRAPHY ! If they did they would NEVER say such a silly thing !!

"jb" didn't we all actually see the Saturn rockets take off ? So what is the relevance of the blueprints of the rockets having gone amiss ? Or... was that too a hoax ? The... rockets did take off, "jb" all of them... those gient things actually rose up to the sky !!

Yes they landed on the moon. I sat up for hours watching the TV from take off, landing and return back. It would have been just about the most expensive hoax ever and even the so-called great US of A hasn't that type of money. And besides, why would they want to perpetrate such a hoax anyway, apart from outdoing the USSR when at some time they would get found out?

In response to "jb", I thought that Congress asked NASA to destroy all of the Saturn 5 blueprints as a requirement for acquiring funding for the Space Shuttle -- Congress wanted to make sure that NASA was fully committed to the shuttle program before they funded it (besides, the blueprints are still around on microfish in the library of Congress).
If the Saturn V rockets didn't go to the Moon, then where did they go? Rather big things that would be hard to hide if they were just sitting in low Earth orbit the whole time.

I think that the main reason for this question is that fact that in the back of our minds we don't trust the governments that run the world , if they did lie about the moon landings then we would have to ask what else have they covered up or lied about over they years.
Personally i would like to believe but i find it hard to understand how and why we have not gone back since the early seventies. It would be very hard to cover up something these days now we have more advanced communication technology

While the landings most likely did take place, there are several pieces of evidence suggesting that at least some parts of the mission were indeed faked for reasons presumably known only to nasa.
And I am not talking about lack of stars - there are lots of things that have yet to be properly explained or can be reliably considered as fake evidence.

Ultimately governments can keep nothing secret, not indefinitely. Too many people were involved in Apollo for every single one to be hiding something.
This is like all conspiracy theories, they can say what they like and nobody can disprove it. If you dismiss one argument (e.g. that utterly inane "no stars in the photos" thing), they just shrug it off. It's like claiming there's an elephant in the fridge, but he disappears as soon as you open the door.

The crew of apollo 11 deployed a laser ranging retroreflector on the lunar surface. This is basically a relector device allowing scientists on the earth to fire laser pulses at it. The time the pulse takes to return to the earth is used to measure the distance from the earth to the moon - this is showing to increase a tiny amount each year.
Scientists have being sending these pulses since apollo 11 and continue to this day.
If man did not land on the moon who put these reflectors here?

Surely anyone with a big-enough telescope can answer this? They were on the light side of the moon, right? Therefore we should be able to see their buggy, footprints and golfballs no?

The landings were real. The technology needed for the Apollo missions was quite simple - WWII technology for the rockets and simple computers - and money was no object.

Food for thought!
Why did NASA throw out the blueprints for the SATURN FIVE rocket in a spring cleaning exercise a few years ago?
To me it seems strange to loose an such an important Histroical Document.
