Call the police department, non-emergency. An officer will be able to meet with you and issue a temporary order. He will also know the route to take to get a permanent one. You could go through PD or your attorney. If suicide threats and battery threats are involved, the problem might be a little too complex for a simple restraining order to fix.

I think each state has different laws, but if you can prove he is any kind of a threat to you, you should be able to get one. The best thing you can do is call your local police and ask the procedure. I live in Illinois, and here you go to the police station, fill out paperwork as to why the person is a threat and a judge either issues one or refuses. I've worked in social work, and for the most part they are granted. If you do get one make sure you also stand by it. I saw many women get into trouble for getting a restraining order and then inviting the guy over.

you should be able to talk to your attorney about getting it. If you dont have an attorney go to your court house and they can tell you who to see about it. They will make you fill out a form and fill it out. You will have to write down everything that has happened. Such as the harrassment " he calls at all hours of the day and threatens to commit suicide, blah blah blah". That should be all it takes to get a temporary restraining order. The restraining order should stay in effect until the divorce hearing and then the judge can determine then whether the order needs to become permenant.

You can try and file an Order of Protection with the police, but I don't think that they can issue a restraining order unless he's actually committed a crime against you. Definately keep filing police reports every time he threatens you. If he's deemed a danger to himself, he can be arrested and put under medical watch.

Hello, we had a guy in our city who was harassing his ex girlfriend- she called the cops on him- he left , came back later shot her , then shot himself...If she owned a gun she could have shot him while he was breaking in her door...it was a bad situation all the way around . I don't know what your husband is capable of- but this is serious. You can go to your magistrates office & take out a restraining order on him. Call a policeman & meet him somewhere away from home and ask what all you can do ( they are trained to deal with situations like this)...good luck hope everything works out...bye bye

Go to the county courthouse to file a restraining order. It is free to file but there is a fee to have it executed when you appear before the judge , gather some evidence of him harassing you , taped phone calls , video etc. Stay away from him the best you can.Good luck.

Call the police and if he is threatening suicide let the police know that too. They can possibly get help for him if you ask them to do a health check on him.

Be careful.

If you have an attorney handling your case, have him to file one for you or go and file yourself. The court in your area should have a website with an FAQ section. They should have the information you need, their requirements and down loadable forms that you may need to complete.

You need to go to the courthouse and fill out some forms. They will serve him the papers and then let you know when to come to court on the matter.
