Nothing to say - rarely was a username more apt! You've obviously not been around any Catholic churches since 1965. The vast majority of nuns no longer wear wimpoles or habits - of the many nuns I've met only an old nun in the 1970s wore one. Anyway a habit DOES NOT COVER ONE'S FACE. That is the difference. If Muslim women wear headscarves (the equivalent to a habit) then fine, although the European Court of Human Rights upheld the ban on headscarves in Turkey - a Muslim country.
To the questioner - in very few workplaces would someone be allowed to come into work and cover their face, unless they had a medical reason. She should show her face or leave. The notion that women cannot be seen - and that's what the niqab is about - is alien to our society and it's time we said so.

A muslim instructor would not get a activity in a specialized Christian college, including a Roman Catholic college. no be counted if a Christian instructor might get activity in a muslim college might count on the college. Did the interviewers of this veiled woman no longer be conscious the veil in the time of the interview? How long had this instructor been wearing a veil in the previous it became a controversy? this entire veil situation has been stirred up via the government to distract human beings from the indoors divisions of the Labour celebration. the tip results of the tribunal? although suits the government.

On GMTV she was asked if she wore the veil at her interview and although she didn't she refused to talk about it. I have never seen anyone at a place of work wearing a veil. And how can a veil and Bangles be allowed but not a silver cross? Sound like descrimination towards christians to me!

What is the reason that these women were veiled in the first place, needs to be known. Is this just fashon? It is against the law in most European Countries. What is the stance on this issue in the US ? I did not see it, it should be on the National news that is an important issue. I would not know who is under that veil male or female and with all the shootings at schools , we do not need that one!

As I have said before, she is not a teacher but a teaching assistant. She did not specialise in assisting young people with hearing difficulties so she did not have to uncover her face in the presence of adult males. She did uncover it though during her work in class, which was permitted by her religion; as there were no adult males present.
I hope this clears up some things and I hope she gets reinstated as soon as possible.

The muslims are a nice people and they do society a great favour by making the ugly women in their culture wear veils. Have you ever seen a nice looking muslim women wearing a veil? Point proved!
On a serious note though:
Muslims are taking Europe for a ride and the European governments are stupid enough to let them. I mean, surely its not difficult to say "if you want to wear your veil in public, then we will pay for your air fair to emigrate to any country in the world where that sort of custom is accepted".
Failing that, ask any muslim who wants to abide only by muslim customs (in Europe) to sign a petition to their home countries asking the government of that country to allow Europeans in their country to go out and binge drink on a Fri/Sat night, or maybe allow Europeans to wear bikinis on the beach or even sunbathe topless in the garden.
Muslims expect the world to respect their culture and religion, yet they do not have the "decency" to respect their host nation!
As for the muslim woman teacher wearing her veil in school, well, muslim or not, as a parent I would want anyone having direct access to my kids to show their face for security reasons. Otherwise anyone could walk into school wearing a veil and do anything to the children without being recognised!
BTW, "chicky" you dipsh!t, there is a WHOLE world outside America. The woman in question lives in the UK (thats United Kingdom, a country in Europe and not the middle east, as some of your "country folk" tend to think!)

I find it interesting how she can go to the interview to get the job without the veil and be interviewed by a male yet when it suits she pulls the race card. Can any Muslim person explain why she thought it acceptable to remove it to obtain career progression but keep it on and kick up a stink when asked to remove it?!? I'm confused? x

She was sacked, she deserved to be sacked and good riddance to people like that who can't teach properly and still expect all the perks. All teachers no matter what their faith or creed are there to teach and that includes letting the pupils see the facial expressions of the teacher to give them a clue to how they are doing and how the teacher is reacting to them..

Children need to see mouth movements to learn to talk. If she refuses to show her face, she is refusing to do her job, and should be sacked. The school by all accounts has attempted to make reasonable adjustments, by allowing her to wear the veil whenever not teaching.

She didnt wear the veil to her job interview did she?
So if she didnt have to wear it then for "religious reasons" why does she have to wear it in class?
I think she should be sacked for accepting a job under false pretences or something.
