Gran Canaria has an even temerature all year but remember that the canaries are one of the shortest flights to the sun at this time of year making it real busy. I went to Tenerife in December and could not stand it as it was just so crowded and people in bikinis with caols playing and christnmas trees did my head in it was WRONG

Yes - and you will be struggling to find a reasonable deal, now. Gran Canaria is (personal opinion) better than Teneriffe, though perhaps not as "sophisticated" as Lanzarotte. Temperature should be English Summer warm and is the closest place you can go for fairly certain Winter sunshine. If it is full, then you can get very good value (not so much cheap, more good value) deals at Hurghada, Sharmel el Sheik and of course Taba Heights. These are on the Red Sea coast. Make sure that you are content with going to this area as sometimes people are not too sure about it. I have been several times to the area and never had any problems.

Just heal the rift with your family, just because you're a gay doesn't mean you have to run away at Christmas time. If you go on an uphill gardening challenge at Christmas it's only going to alienate your father further. He will make peace with you once he sees that you and Terence are serious!
