They prep the people for about 15 minutes (and they do) before the show. So the way I think it works is: the people are ready to go along with it, they aren't hypnotized against their will, and when the time comes to do it or not its a matter of suggestion and willingness. So they kind of knock themselves out and go along with it. The alternative is to resist...and they would have agreed not to before...so...they are hypnotized.
As for clinical hypnosis...it is probably similar. Trance-like state, etc.

I feel that it can work for the weak minded!
I work in radio and we had a guy who does this for a living... he was on the show and did this to half of our staff! some people where clueless to what was going on some knew what was going on but went along with it anyway!
got to keep the show going...
HArmful depends on what you condirer harmfull! if you think forgetting about something is harmful then yes this may not be for you!
if your strong minded it won't work!

it is not harmful. it is helpful if you beleive. if someone stays "asleep" they will awaken on their own in about 20 mins. lots of very helpful uses. i had major abdominal surgery and used hypnosis as post pain control. it worked very well. also i have personally witnessed childbirth under hypnosis. which also worked very well. stay away from the "amatuers" and stage hypnotists, they are usually just out for your $$$$. good luck. don't be afraid to try. there is a test a true hypnotist will give you to see if you are a person who can undergo and accept this kind of therapy. it is very short and physical. no pain i promise. lol

Go to a licensed counselor. My friend who is a pyschologist states it is okay to use. I don't think anyone can make you do something harmful, even under the suggestion of hypnotis.

It's a bunch of croc...Don't let anyone tell you different.
If it were true the person that knew how to hypnotise people would be ruling the world by now. Think about it.

I don't like it. The idea of someone having carte blanche with my noodle is just not appealing.
