I think this has been the biggest scam and disgrace of the education system in unison with the medical professional that has ever been pulled. Why are kids today needing drugs when the kids of yesteryear didn't? You have to look at the Parents or the education system to see the problem.

This is a common complaint. And it is hard not to feel there is some convenience medicating going on.
But the people who make this complaint are never those with kids who need help. They aren't people like my friend, whose son was failing and unhappy and unable to concentrate enough to read, diagnosed with dyslexia, who with small regular doses of medicine is now happy, energetic and able to do very well in school.
They aren't people like me, who has an autistic son who was unable to control himself in any social setting until we finally found the right mix of medication, and who know does well in life and school.
People who need medication and don't get it aren't normal, happy restless kids. They are miserable at being unable to do what they want, and it would be just as cruel to deny them help as it would be to deny a dental patient anesthesia. You know, in the old days we didn't have all this medication for physical ailments either.
Don't jump to conclusions unless you are very sure about this.
ANd the person below who thinks baby boomers are just lazy parents who would medictae thjeir kids even if they don;'t need it -- I'm sure you know what you are talking about. Im sure you know that all those parents don't care about their kids. I'm sure your attitude -- whatever it is, it isnt serious, don;t seek professional help, just shut the kid in his room and wait for him to grow -- is the right attitude.

No its not the only country but its true what you are saying. America seems to find denial the best route for most issues. its quite scary that medicating children has become socialy acceptable in the USA. so many other countries tend to follow their example.

Baby boomers are the most selfish generation in history. I know, I'm one of them, and I see what goes on around me. They want someone else to solve their problems for them, they don't want the responsibility of taking care of it on their own, and they want immediate results.
So if their kid is uncontrollable, the last person they're going to blame is themselves for being a self-absorbed parent. And they're not going to go to counseling, since it takes too long, takes too much time, and might force me to realize that I AM the problem.
Just give the kid a pill and make him docile. It's quick, it's easy, it avoids the whole issue of responsibility, and it's highly recommended by doctors and the pharma reps.
