Well studies have shown that the more education one has the more likely they are to be progressive/liberal, so it could just be that Texans are getting more educated.
Or it could be that, like the Dixie Chicks, they are embarrassed by George Bush and it has caused them to re-evaluate their traditional beliefs.
Or it could be that over the last 30 years people have moved around more so that there is less inbreeding in Texas, resulting in an overall rise in intelligence and education...

since we are growing at such a fast rate, we need more progress to occur to keep up. I do disagree with it though. I wish we were a smaller city
