I have one of the most severe cases of spondylolisthesis, as well as a tiny eeny weeny bit of scoliosis, and trust me, as someone gibbled, Sleep Number is the best! You can lay in it and make it just how you want it. It is TOTALLY worth the money. And if you get a dual chamber, it is perfect for your significant other (like my husband, who loves really firm beds but I like soft)... so everyone gets what they need and you get some sweet sweet sleep.

It all depends on what kind of back problems you have and what you can handle. Can you sleep on a firm mattress or a soft mattress or something in between? Try going to a mattress store and try out the different kinds of mattresses they have to see which feels better on your back. Only you and your back can tell you what's best for your back.
Hope this helps and good luck!

The Sealy Posturepedic hands down. Provides correct back support by helping to keep your spine in proper alignment. Relieves pressure points and reduces tossing and turning. Delivers edge-to-edge comfort across the entire mattress surface. Offers a consistently firm seating edge around the perimeter of the mattress. Absorbs weight and motion for a stable feel.
Sealy Posturepedic coil systems are heavy gauge and heat tempered twice to help maintain their shape, so they last longer.

Well, I broke my back in 3 places; have arthritis, a herniated disc, & some other issues. I bought the firmest mattress I could find, & I sleep very well on it.

I hate to say this but I have a sleep number and I absolutely hate it!!!!. I have tried every possible combination and I see a chiropractor regularly for years and now my back and head pain is worse. I have yet to have a good nights sleep on this thing. And forget about anything else..........

I love my waterbed. When my back aches, the heat from the water relaxes it all night long.
