I think it is partly because Halloween is associated with a change of seasons. --the end of the growing season. Until very recently in human history, it was an extremely important part of the yearly cycle. The early Christian missionaries helped to change the pagan to a Christian holiday-- (the night before All Saints Day) Basically, I think it's difficult or impossible for people to entirely let go of their past. If you really think about it , there are probably some pagan-based customs or verbal expressions that you use. The word "consider", for example, is based on looking to the stars for advice (astrology) .....

That is a question that I have no idea how to answer? Halloween or all hallow is about celibrating spooks and no I do not understand paganism, but there are Christian churches promoting halloween by doing some thing on that night. I would wonder if that is a way for them to stop it? Keep the kiddies from celebrating it like they once did and pull them into the church, then suddenly bingo bango it is gone because the church can not really believe in it since it celibrates evil spirits and they will have to stop it in the name of christianity at some point. Any better ideas out there? It is not just a nice polite Christian event and it never was meant to be, not really.

truthfully, Halloween started as a Pagan trip. So rather, that would make you a hypocrite, does no longer it? no longer purely that, yet you would be an unlearned hypocrite. to boot, Halloween isn't celebrated (for the main area) with any religious meaning anymore. it rather is approximately dressing up and getting candy. Oh, and that i've got by no ability long previous on and on approximately Christian's celebrating Christmas and Easter. What are you conversing approximately? Why do you human beings attempt to attack those with diverse perspectives than yours each and every of the time. rather once you frequently say some thing unlearned and misguided.

Hallowe'en is a Pagan festival (All Hallows Eve) and is concerned with the warding away of evil. Hence the idea of leaving lights inside pumpkins (or other vegetables which could sustain the flame) outside your door. They were lanterns designed to ward off evil spirits. The idea of carving evil faces onto the pumpkins is a modern invention along with trick or treating and all the dressing up etc. It is a corruption of Hallowe'en's original meaning.

No one cares about the history of halloween. little kids just think it's fun to dress up in custumes and run around the neighborhood getting candy. Don't try to rain on their parade. Shall I tell them the tooth fairy, the easter bunny and Santa Claus are evil and fake too?
