No way, no how....you hit the nail right on the head....the pharmaceutical (and health insurance) companies are making WAY too much money off the sick to release vaccines, or cures for other diseases! The system is so corrupt, I don't believe we'll ever see cures for many illnesses....pretty sad, isn't it? I could go on forever, but you would get really bored! : )

Great question, I have long been speculating that a cure is known and that cold remedy companies are paying for it to be kept off trhge market. The reason I say that, is because there used to be a product called zincold which prevented you from getting a cold. It seemed to work (as a prevention, not a cure) and I can not see it on the shelves these days. Maybe I am a cynic - but I defietely think it's a possibility. Anyway incase you are interested, one of the active ingredients was zinc. If anyone near me has a cold, I take some vitamins .. namley Zinc Gluconate and Vit C tablets, this seems to make me a lot less likely to catch the cold, either that or my immune system has seriously improved lately by itself!!

knowing how much time and (our) money the government is wasting on useless medical experiments, (and the fact that nearly every day in the newspapers you read about cures for certain illnesses e.g. cancer, being made available soon), the chances are: one day there will be an announcement that a cure for the common cold has been discovered, and will be available privately in the next 10 years. But then nothing will ever materialize. For now, I take Beechams Cold and Flu Plus caplets (2 caplets, 4 times a day) at the first sign of a cold, and I am better within 2-3 days. I am going through a cold at the moment and am taking them, they are working really well and I feel sooo much better!

Very good question! But since there are over 300 common cold viruses, finding a vaccine for all of them would be difficult. But I can tell you how to prevent yourself from getting one! There is a brand of tea from Celestial Seasonings called wellness tea. It contains echinacea, zinc and vitamin c. Drink it every day to prevent colds. It truly works! If you already have a cold, it can cut your recovery time in half! Don't forget to wash your hands often, and don't put dirty hands to the eyes, nose, or mouth! This is the biggest way that colds are transmitted.

It would be really great if there was a cure for every ailment, however, the pharmaceutical sales people and doctors wouldn't be able to make any money from the commissions and kick backs. Our costs would be a whole lot lower; it would be like cutting out the middle man. Lower costs would be better for us but I don't think the pharmaceutical sales people and doctors would allow for this to happen - it's too bad they are so greedy.....

no,
but i doubt there will ever be a cure, after all the virus keeps mutating into new forms.
So there would be little point in developing one anyway. I suspect companies would make much more money from curing or relieving the symptoms.
I have awful cold right now, I'll just let it run it's course.
