MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE!!! Keeping your skin moisturized during pregnancy is your best defence against stretch marks and itching due to the stretching itself. (It's not the scratching that makes the marks, it's the trauma on the skin from having to expand so fast. Moisturized skin has better elasticity so will accept the stretching better.) While nothing is *technically* proven to prevent/reduce stretchmarks, cocoa butter seems to be the most popular when used faithfully. Millions of women can't be wrong. Staying hydrated will help also.
If you have more of a rash, which happens also, see your doc and they can recommend or prescribe something to you for that.

Yeah, the skin is stretching and it is completely normal. Drop by wal mart or somewhere and get some Cocobutter lotion. It helps with the burn and itch and will help with the stretch marks too! Good Luck

OH boy... When I was pregnant my hubby was always telling me to stop scratching!!! LOL...
Try using warmed olive oil a couple of times a day... I found it worked better than any cocoa butter lotion, it's thicker (less runny) than baby/ mineral oil, and it feels SOOOOO good... Plus it actually has a slight water content in it, so you're not just rubbing grease all over yourself, you're actually moisturizing. If you don't like the smell so much, add a drop of your favorite perfume to it... Mop off the excess with a paper towel and you're good to go (you'll figure out how much your skin can absorb really quick).
Then you don't go around smelling like a coconut chocolate bar, like the cocoa butter lotions do, too. (I always hated that smell when I was pregnant...)

It is probably your skin stretching to accomodate the growing baby. I would try using lotion. In the baby isle in most drug stores they have lotions that ease the itching and can help keep stretch marks from being as noticeable.

Completely normal. Like others have said, it's just your skin stretching. Get some lotion and slather it on there, you should feel some relief.
Good luck with your first pregnancy!
