NASHVILLE, Tenn. Nashville police arrested former television talk show host and gospel singer and songwriter Gary Chapman and have charged him with driving under the influence.

Forty-nine-year-old Chapman was also once married to singer Amy Grant.

Police say he was clocked at 49 in a 30 mile per hour zone when he was pulled over Sunday night. He smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and said he'd been drinking.

Police say during the field sobriety test, Chapman fell against the vehicle twice while standing on one leg and registered 0.157 on the breathalyzer test. The legal limit is 0.08.

A small amount of marijuana and a marijuana pipe was also found in Chapman's pocket.

Grant left Chapman for country singer Vince Gill, and they were divorced in 1999.

Chapman's received several Dove awards from the Gospel Music Association and received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album in 1994.

He was the host of The Nashville Network's music and talk show, "Prime Time Country" in the mid-1990s. The show was canceled in 1999.

I heard it was pot, not crack. But I'm not surprised. He's always been kind of flakey.

I hadn't heard about it, although it doesn't suprise me. Being with that woman probably drove him to drugs.
