I'm on Windows XP and have tried to download the free version. But it keeps saying 'unknown publisher' and then says some installation files are corrupt. I've been trying for ages but to no avail - please help!!

Dear frnd it seems that ur compu is full of Trojans and viruses. So getting rid of them i s the only feasible and long term solution that u must go for
In my opinion, instead of going for AVG, choose Norton (It's updated, and Free download). Not jus that It comes bundled withthe Lavasofts famous Antispyware product Ad-aware and many other essential software. U dont have to downoad them indivually rather they come in one single pack of esential software.

After u install the stated software do the following
Restart ur computer in the safe mode(Press F5 repeatedly when it restarts, it will take to to the option for the safe mode)
Then scan ur computer for
1. Viruses (I suggest Norton AntiVirus updated version)
2. Spywares (I suggest Lavasoft's Adware updated version)

I'd recommend that you uninstall AVG and download it from Grisoft or another reliable source like download.com. There are a lot of other sites that you can get it from, with some extra stuff attached to it that you don't want or need!
