I'm sure there are other versions but have a look at the directions at:

They are FORMS. Cut them from 1 x 10 lumber. It's 9 1/4" wide. Just about the height of a step.

It would be a lot like making forms for foundations. Take a 2 x 6 and stand it up on end, with rebar posted into the ground, on the exterior, for bracing.
