My attorney was to file my divorce petition 10/10/06. I just found out it hasn't been done yet, due to backlogs at his office. He promised he'd do it tomorrow. Can't I file the papers myself, or use an authorized agent to do it? I'm getting pretty ticked off seeing as though this is part of what he's getting paid for!!!

Well, you aren't the only one who goes through this. I am still waiting for my papers to be filed. I hope this will be the last time. The two lawyers have bounced the papers back and forth since May, and the ex and I have not contested anything. The ex and I wrote out our own settlement and just need the lawyers to sign them and file them.

Update: Just talked to lawyer's secretary and the papers have been filed and signed. I am finally free!
