hanging by their hair ( use a box made for storing photographs - look for the term archival they are non-reactive )

the other option is to wrap with tissue paper and then seal in a bag made for a seal-a-meal type device ( vacuum packed and non-reactive but also inaccessible ) the tissue paper will prevent the plastic ( the doll is made from ) from reacting with the bag - barbie doll latex is not food grade !

In a plastic tote wrapped up... Did they get too hot maybe. Rubbermaid should not make them Gummy and if they did I would contact Rubbermaid and let them know they have a problem. Mine are in Rubbermaid and I have never had a problem yet. Knock on Wood... Good luck..

You know those hanging shoe racks? If you are not sure what I'm talking about, look at this: http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple/content/0,21770,1095449,00.html
See if you can find one made from fabric, not plastic. Or make your own, shouldn't be too difficult. Your barbie dolls will be out of the way, but safe!!
