My opinion is this: until a man volunteers to physically give birth to the child the pregnant woman is carrying...it's her body, not his. She shouldn't be forced to continue the pregnancy if she doesn't want to. Pregnancy can wreak havoc men can't even begin to imagine on a woman's body. However, I understand a man wanting to have a say in it. It could be partly his decision, but in all honesty, you should have talked about the "what ifs" long before you slept with her. If you didn't and she wants an abortion...like I said before: her body, her choice. When he gets pregnant and has to weigh the emotional and physical pro's and con's of pregnancy then he can make the choice.
By the way...no one...I repeat NO ONE is PRO-ABORTION. I hate the fact that people keep saying this when it's not a position taken by those active in the abortion debates. It's Pro-Choice, the right to CHOOSE. The opposing side is Pro-Life. It's not Anti-Choice either.

It's one thing to believe that men should have no say in the physical abortion, but in the interest of fairness and equality, men should have available to them the opportunity to have a "legal abortion". By paying half of some standard cost of an abortion to the mother and filing a certificate with the Probate court, he gets a "legal abortion" and has no further responsibility. He should be required to have this filed either before the birth occurs, or within 30 days of being notified of the fact that he has fathered a child, whichever is later.

No one should have the right to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her body in regards to pregnancy. Until a man grows a uterus and can give birth why should he have any say so? To force a woman to have a baby that she doesn't want just because he fills he is a right is unjust. To force something as physically and emotionally demanding as pregnancy and delivery on a person is unjust. Look at what women went thru to have an abortion before it became legalized. No one should have any RIGHT to force a woman to go thru that if she doesn't want to do it because no one knows the determental inpact a forced pregnancy could have.

I'm not pro abortion but I would think a good point would be something along the lines of what if the father isn't financially ready or physically ready. Stay away from pointing out the kid is his too because lord forbid anybody actually decide the man actually have a choice individually in weather or not any woman have an abortion or not.,

Because women have proven themselves irresponsible in this matter. Over 50 MILLION abortions have been done in this country since Roe V. Wade. and FULLY 98.2% were elective (i.e. not the result of rape or incest and the mother's life was not in danger). 87% of those cases were abortions given to middle class white women between the ages of 18 and 35. When one also considers that there is a seven year waiting list to adopt a baby in America it is clear that another stop gap is needed. Having the father's concent is an excellent one but there should be even more barriers to elective abortion as well.

The man is the one more than likely going to be the one to financially support this child for the next 18 years. Why shouldn't they have the choice? The man may want the child to raise, but because the mothers want to abort it, it won't happen. Men want their children too.

He should be part of the conversation, but bottom line, it's the woman's decision. She's going to be ultimately responsible for the child (with over half the families in America being raised by single mothers).

each and every human being should have a say in this. no matter what. however, it really comes down to what is actually being done is a different story. Just like i cannot force my husband to have a vasectomey, my husband cannot force me to have an abortion.
if men want to be fathers, then they need to come right out and say so before they sleep with that woman. if they don't want ot be fathers, then they need to come right out and say so before they sleep with that woman. Anytime a man does not specify prior to the act of sex, he is giving up his right of choice. He has a resposibility to wear a condom, to get a vasectomey, make sure the woman he is having sex with is also preventing pregnancy. Or he can make the choice and not have sex with that woman. It is my belief that anytime a man releases his sperm, he is releasing his right to choice. as a woman accepting that sperm we have taken that right from him and will make The choice to do with it as we will. not to sound crass....but same rule applies to belongings. if a man leaves his hat, shirt, stereo behind....it's mine. i can keep it..or i can throw it out. it's my choice.

well think about it this way..if you do have a say, what would happen if the woman wants to abort and you want to raise the baby?? should she do what you want? and that means having back pains for 9 months, having a thing sit on her leg bones, tie her down, swell her legs, make her throw up, have mood swings and possibly risk her goals/dreams??? and perhaps giving her a lifetime of poverty? yes you should tell her what your opinion is but don't you think us women should be happy? giving birth or being too busy? w/e it is..don't you think???
