i have a 99 dodge dakota, with aftermarket exhaust, when i start my truck it is jerking a idleing more than ever, like crazy pull my head back kinda jerk, it sounds really funny and acts like it doesnt get any power, after driving it a while it goes back to normal, kinda like all the sudden my rpms go up and i go flying unexpectedly. the brakes lock up pretty bad while it is havign its fits, and i think my bf thinks i am crazy b/c it is always fine when he gets ahold of it, the check engine light just came on, so at least i have some proof, help!!!

Have the ignition system checked. You may have an bad dist cap or rotor and wires.

With this type of problem you're having the absolute best solution for you is to take it to a dodge dealer and have them run a dianogist test to find out what the problem is. Because it could be a lot of problems or just one simple one. But if you don't have a tester, you're likely to spend lots of money on a problem that could have been corrected for less.

It is not that major since it is capable of acting normal. I would take it to a dealer and have them check it out. It may be as simple as a tune up.

have some one look over your plug wires they could be narking.
If that doesent work throttle positioning sensor could be bad.

NO OLFFENSE PLEASE ,.BUT WHAT DID YOU EXPECT WHEN YOU BOUGHT A DODGE ,GET RID OF IT AND BUY A FORD OR CHEVY , PROBLEM SOLED
