You transmit a carrier wave - an electro-magnetic wave of radio frequency. Super imposed on the (modulation) is audio. the Electro-magnetic waves are transmitted using an antenna and received with a antenna. The audio can be any sound - speech or music - amazing invention - you should get one. Two methods of modulation, vary the amplitude of the wave AM, or the frequency of the wave FM. We can even send digital signals now by using electro-magnetic waves. So not just music and speech but video and computer signals too.
