It should be a faily reliable car. I have a Pontiac Grand Prix with the same engine 3.8Liter Supercharged. I have almost 150K on the odometer. The top speed is limited by the computer to 128mph. But, you can by a chip for it that will over ride that limit. The car could do 155mph to 160mph no problem. There are also a lot of performance goodies to that engine now too. I have put some on my car it is a lot more fun now. I suggest going to GrandPrixstore.com They have all kinds of fun stuff for cars like ours. Good luck and happy motoring.

I've owned Pontiacs for years and they have always been good to me.

All General Motors vehicles sold in the United States have limits built into the computer to limit speed and engine RPM

Engine RPM is limited by the computer to 6200 RPM

Engine RPM in park or neutral is limited to 4000 RPM

Top speed is limited by the computer to 125 MPH.

You need to reprogram the computer using any of the various after market computer programmers to bypass these limits.

Caution, going over 115 MPH will most likely get you locked up if you get caught. The police versions of all makes of cars don't have speed or RPM limiters on them. Besides, you can't outrun the Motorola.

that engine is probably one of the better engines put out by gm in awhile. it's durable with good power and easily upgradeable. now adays it's not about going from a 305 to a 350, it's about buying a computer chip that tells the engine, "You can go fast now." still dude not a bad car as far as looks or performance. one guy said 160 mph top speed i would agree with that.
