Just on yahoo TODAY... OSLO (Reuters) - Scientists said on Monday that they had found the first direct evidence linking the collapse of an ice shelf in Antarctica to global warming widely blamed on human activities.
Shifts in winds whipping around the southern Ocean, tied to human emissions of greenhouse gases, had warmed the Antarctic peninsula jutting up toward South America and contributed to the break-up of the Larsen B ice shelf in 2002, they said.
"This is the first time that anyone has been able to demonstrate a physical process directly linking the break-up of the Larsen Ice Shelf to human activity," said Gareth Marshall, lead author of the study at the British Antarctic Survey.
The chunk that collapsed into the Weddell Sea in 2002 was 3,250 sq kms (1,255 sq miles), bigger than Luxembourg or the U.S. state of Rhode Island. (it continues)

Anyone who denies global warming has their head in the sand (soon to be underwater). Can the politicians who refuse to do anything about this now be brought up on charges of future murder? That's what they are doing...murdering their grandchildren.

Global Warming's a Great Misunderstanding. If you've actually done their own research with an unbiased viewpoint, you would have noticed several facts that directly contradict the Theory that Global Warming is causing the Earth's "rise in temperature".
But I'm not going to try to reason with conspiracy buffs who don't know any better than to assume that the environmentalists are made up of completely unbiased people with nothing to gain except the 'healing' of the earth.
In the word's of Dennis Avery "the Greenhouse Theory says CO2 will first warm the atmosphere above the Earth. The atmosphere will then overheat the planet by radiating heat from above.
So far, the Earth's surface is warming two or three times faster than the atmosphere. That's a big Mother Nature vote against the Greenhouse Theory."
Go research the facts yourselves. And, excuse me, did someone say that there was a scientific consensus that Global Warming is causing the Earth's temperature to rise at an alarming rate? That's a blatant lie. There is a general scientific consensus that Global Warming may be real. How much it affects the world, however, is still a major unknown.

People would rather go down fighting the notion that we need to change the entire way we have been doing things their hole life ..
Even if it means that future generations will suffer .
We are all a little bit saddistic and like to argue against all change .
So getting everyone on board is the problem .
I have no doubt that global warming is the direct result of the increase in mans population and his burning of fuel for warmth and industries .We knew in the 70's of the effects of polution on cities that we could no longer see because of all the haze and polution . Now with some cleaner air standards and people working on emmisions we no longer live in the haze covered cities .
So lets try to fix our global warming problems before it is to late and i feel it may be to late already .Its all canada's fault .The want it warmer and will do anything to make it happen .Besiedes they hate mexicans and cocking the darker minorities to the south of them makes them happy .

Everyone agrees that we have global warming, but some are not convinced it is caused by man. We don't really have enough info. to be sure.
I hope we can get the facts we need before it's too late.
Man's time on earth has been short and ,therefore, our records don't go back far enough to conclude that man's activities are entirely to blame. If we don't know if man's impact is enough to cause it: how can we know if our impact is great enough to stop it?

1/8 of the earths surface is suitable for humans 1.5% of that land is urban area's. We are not the problem. It's possible that the earth is still warming after the mini ice age. or the sun is growing larger and larger as you read this. did you know that the Ice caps on mars are melting as well.

I wonder if anyone here knows what a Luddite was?
We do seem to have the same head in the sand attitude here. Nice thing is, it doesn't matter since it will continue with or without the naysayers, yea verily until the naysayers are gurgling ocean water at the top of their houses in Poughkeepsie.

I don't doubt global warming one bit. But I don't see any proof that man causes it. those scientists will say anything to keep getting government grant money. I think it's more of a natural happening and maybe we contribute to it some what I don't think if I stop driving my pick up things will change.

The self-interested of this world don't care about that interesting find. It is going to be awhile before people truly believe in the global warming. Now that I think about it, some persons still claim the holocaust did not exist. Hmm. . . .

I'm not sure what your question is, but...
NO KIDDING. for those of us few enlightened ones that are willing to believe greatly studied thoery without needing a substantial diagram, pinpointing each and every slice and figure of evidence, the fact that it now exist should give impetus to change our methods of energy consuption, FINALLY! For many of those right-wing "faith" oriented, this proof should spur them into action and make a greener cleaner earth, since it is the MORAL thing to do for our future generations.

I am sorry to burst your bubble, but there is no one that can link human emissions to the shifting of winds anywhere on the globe. I have studied environmental geology for several years and wind shifts are recorded through out the geologic record in rocks and ice. Nice try.

Some people will go on disbelieving it until they have to move to the second floor of their house to get away from the rising ocean.
Also some claim that it is disputed among the experts. For those of you check the following;

Note to sway_ii; I hope you're just young and not totally ignorant.
